Sitting With Jane is proud to be working in partnership with Ark Cancer Centre Charity, a special local charity that will benefit from the sale of all the sculptures from the trail in autumn 2017. The Ark Cancer Centre is a much-needed cancer treatment centre is to be built by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in north Hampshire, integrating conventional and supportive cancer care for local people. Everything will be provided under one roof in an uplifting environment that will enhance the care and support that is given.
The Sitting With Jane art trail will culminate with an auction with auctioneers, Andrew Smith & Son , to raise funds for our charity partner, Ark Cancer Centre Charity. This important local charity is working to raise £5m to build a 21st century cancer treatment centre – built for the people, by the people.
This will be the only opportunity to purchase one of the fabulous BookBenches as piece of unique art that celebrates Jane Austen’s heritage in north Hampshire. They will be sold to the highest bidder at a prestigious auction event on Friday 15th September at the Ark Conference Centre. The BookBenches will all be on display through the summer (17 June – 30 August) – so if one catches your eye and you would like to own it, then this will be your chance.
“There is no doubt that Sitting With Jane will attract a great deal of attention locally, nationally and internationally. The 24 professionally designed BookBench sculptures will be landmark attractions during the event to mark the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death, and those involved in sponsoring and purchasing them will be contributing to a longer lasting legacy”, Merv Rees, Trustee of the Ark Cancer Centre Charity
