The artist of this BookBench lives a few fields from where Jane Austen was born and the design is inspired by lacemaking and thoughts of invisible threads that connect us all. It is especially appropriate that it is located outside the Silk Mill where threads have been woven together since Jane Austen’s era and more recently have produced cloth for use in costumes for film adaptions of her novels.
The Jenton Group designs, manufactures and supplies innovative packaging, print and manufacturing automation equipment for the U.K. and export markets. Jenton was formed in 1973 in the Whitchurch area and is now based on the Evingar Industrial Estate.
This BookBench is just outside the Whitchurch Silk Mill, which is open Tuesday to sunday 10.30am to 5pm. They also have a range of special events and activities as well as a gift shop. Parking is adjacent to the Gill Nethercott Centre, very close to the town centre with its shops, pubs and cafes.
